Positive and motivational quotes are one way that we can stay on track and feel inspired in life.

They tell us to be happy and positive. They tell us to never give up and to keep reaching for our goals.

It can be useful to keep some quotes in a close place or memorize some, so you can look back at them whenever you feel down or need a little pick-me-up.

These kinds of quotes can also just give you a little something to think about and to dig deeper into who you are.

I like to keep quotes in the note’s app on my phone, as backgrounds on my electronics, on vision boards, in journals, wherever I feel like putting them to keep me on track and inspired.

10 Positive and Motivational Quotes

I have compiled a list of ten quotes that I enjoy and that I think might help you out as well.

  1. Happiness is not a destination, it’s a way of life
    • So many people think that happiness is something you achieve after a time. That it is something that you get to rather than something that you have. Happiness is something we should all be trying to have every day. Obviously, not every day is going to be great. But you aren’t just going to come upon happiness someday and feel complete either. You strive for it every day in everything you do.
  2. Happiness blooms from within
    • You can’t wait for happiness to just happen. You have to create it and feel it and embody it in everything you do. Some days are difficult, and you don’t want to be happy. But you have to try your best at everything you do and try to keep your head up and find the good in everything you do.
  3. Do not give your past the power to define your future.
    • Often times we use past experiences or traumas to tell us what we can and can’t do in the future. This needs to stop. Just because something happened in your past, does not mean that it defines your whole life. I understand that some people have traumatic experiences, and they are very difficult to move on from, if not impossible.
However, try to find something that you can take away from your bad experiences and use them in your life to your benefit. Maybe you grew up paycheck to paycheck never knowing when your next meal would hit the table. Or you lived in a car with your single mom for a few months not knowing what would happen next. But now you have a good job and you can support yourself so you decide to get a credit card and blow all your money on material things. Instead of using your past as an excuse for your now bad habit, use your money to save up for an even better life. Or better yet, use that extra cash to donate to some of your favorite charities. Your past should never define who you are today. Everyone grows and evolves in their own way.
  4. If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, not the goal
    • I am very guilty of quitting something if it doesn’t work the first way I try doing it. However, there is always more than one way to do something. You might not see it at first but you have to try and find another way to do the thing rather than quit. Never change the end goal just because the plan seems to be not working, or it’s taking longer than ideal.
  5. The way you speak to yourself matters
    • I cannot stress this one enough to myself and others. It is so important to quit the negative self-talk and bashing on yourself. You are only setting yourself up for failure when you do. Instead of saying “ugh I’m so ugly” tell yourself “man I’ve never noticed how pretty my eyes are”. Instead of hating the way your body looks, thank your body for being able to do all the wonderful things it does for you every day. Even if it’s just getting out of bed in the morning. We need to stop being our own bullies and start being our own cheerleaders. Set yourself up for happiness and success by learning how to take the negative self-talk and turn it into positive talk. Trust me, you will notice a huge difference in the way you feel.
  6. Your life is as good as your mindset
    • This is something all of us really need to work on. We wake up in the morning with the “Ugh, do I have to get out of bed?” attitude. Or the “Man I hate work so much.” This mindset and this negative talk are what sets us up for failure. We tell ourselves that everything sucks, as then subconsciously we make sure that everything sucks. Instead of starting your day with negativity, find something to look forward to every day. Wake up and plan your self-care routine for the day, or think about the delicious lunch you will have at work. Our mindset has such a big role in how our lives play out and we really need to be mindful of it and do everything we can to make it positive.
  7. You are not too old and it’s not too late
    • I’ve definitely heard people say that they are too old to learn new things or start new habits, or that it’s too late and they are already too deep. You aren’t too old and it’s definitely never too late. You can learn something new or start a new lifestyle at any point in your life. It just takes the right dedication and commitment. If you tell yourself you can’t because it’s too late or you’re too old, then you are just setting yourself to fail in life and be miserable. So if you want to do something but think you are too old, at least try to do the thing. And I mean really try. It takes 21 days to make a habit, if you really cannot do the thing within 21 days then maybe it’s not for you. But it never hurts to try.
  8. Create the life you can’t wait to wake up to
    • When you wake up in the morning, are you excited to start your day or are you dreading it? If you are dreading your day every day, ask yourself why? How can you add things to your day that make you excited to get up? Maybe you quit your job and start one that actually excites you. Or maybe you simply carve out a portion of your day to do things that you truly enjoy. Whether it’s a big change or a small one, try to strive for happiness every day. Make your days exciting. It may seem impossible at first. But you will never know unless you try.
  9. Be kind even on your bad days
    • It is so important to remember to be kind. Everyone has their bad days and it leaves you feeling less than 100%. You don’t want to put in the effort, you don’t want to smile and you don’t want to socialize. But even though you are having a bad day, it should never be a reason to stop being kind. Maybe being kind to someone else will help to turn your bad day around and make you feel better. So remember to be kind to those around you, no matter what.
  10. Life is about moments create them don’t wait for them
    • When the weather is nice it’s a good time to try and get out and make some memories. Take a walk, have a picnic, sit on the porch and chat with good friends. We shouldn’t wait for good moments and memories to happen. We should be actively making them happen regularly. Ask that friend to go get coffee. Take your kid to the park. Go to the movies. I know it’s difficult during a pandemic to do these things sometimes, but they are still possible. So go make some memories and have some fun!

I’ve created an image with all ten of these quotes that you can print out and keep at your desk or even frame it so you can see it every day.

These are just ten quotes that I enjoy. There are so many more out there. I encourage you to do some of your own research. Check out Pinterest. They have tons of good quotes.

Create a nice list that you can keep with you or somewhere you can easily access. And then look at them from time to time to give yourself a quick bite of inspiration.

I also recommend making a vision board with some quotes that you enjoy so you can see them displayed, and maybe help manifest some of your dreams and goals.
