Self-care is often overlooked. We go about our lives day in and day out without taking a single second to make sure we are okay.
We go to work or school, we come home, we do chores, run errands, and make dinner. Then we go to bed and start it all over the next day.
How many of you can really say that you spend time taking care of yourself? And I don’t mean just general hygiene that we should be doing anyway.
I mean really take care of yourself. Take ten minutes a day to do something that makes your heart happy. Or to improve yourself. Or even just to relax and meditate.
I can’t even say that I do this every day. Life gets busy, we get lazy, and the last thing on our busy minds is “oh hey I should sit here and do nothing”.
We might want to sit and do nothing but we laugh at the idea because of how many things are on our to-do lists. We don’t think we have the time or the resources to practice self-care regularly.
Ten minutes. That is all you need. even if it means taking an extra long shower so you can stand there and meditate. Or going to bed ten minutes early.
Self-care isn’t difficult. It can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. As long as you are practicing it regularly.
Here is a list of a few ideas that can get you started in your new self-care routine.
- Digital detoxing
- Have a good morning and night routine
- Do something fun
- Play games
- Watch favorite movie or show
- Working out
- Fresh air
- Catch up with friend or family
- Get creative
- DIY projects
- Baking/ cooking
- Spa day
- Do your nails
- Do your makeup
- Put on a favorite outfit
Pick one, pick a few, or try them all out. You should also take a minute to brainstorm your own ideas. Maybe you like to do a certain activity that isn’t on this list. Go ahead and add it!
Anything can count as self-care as long as you enjoy it and it makes your heart and soul happy.
