What are positive affirmations and how do you use them?
Positive affirmations are daily little reminders to yourself that you are worth it, you are amazing, and you are capable.
They are here to remind you to stay motivated and to encourage you to live your best life.
Some affirmations include, I am beautiful, I am confident, and I am strong.
However, simply saying these affirmations to yourself every day won’t magically make them real or happen.
You can tell yourself that you are beautiful all day, every day, but do you actually believe this?
To believe it you have to really feel the affirmation. You have to really think about it and find ways to see yourself as being beautiful.
Maybe that looks like finding little physical attributes about yourself that you like. Like your eyes, or your smile.
Or maybe it’s finding things on the inside that you find beautiful. Like your heart, your personality, and your strength.
Whatever that affirmation looks like to you is what you need to fully embrace it, to fully believe it, and then live it every day.
One way I like to remind myself of these little affirmations is to write them down.
You can keep a list on your phone and continue to add to it whenever you like. This way you always have your list with you to look at when you need a pick me up.
You can write them in a journal and use these affirmations as a journal prompt to really think about them and dig deeper.
You can also write them on a sticky note, or just a piece of paper and post it somewhere you will see them regularly like the bathroom mirror, on the fridge, or on your work desk.

Here is a list of a few positive affirmations that can help you get started.
- I am strong.
- I am confident.
- I am beautiful.
- I am enough.
- I am smart.
- I am proud of who I am.
- I am working on being better every day.
- I trust that I am on the right path.
- I trust myself to make the right decisions.
- I am growing and learning every single day.
This isn’t an expansive list by any means, and I encourage you to write some of your own affirmations that really pertain to you as a person.
I suggest you sit down with a journal or your phone and brainstorm at least five of your own unique positive affirmations.
Do some research and find some other ideas online of what other people say and add them to your list if they resonate with you. Or use them to make your own version.
Continue to grow this list as you grow as a person and keep it handy so you can always look at it when you need it.
I have made some positive affirmation cards that you can download and print for yourself. I have my own set that I have laminated and I keep it where I can see it every day.
I like to bring my list out when I am having a bad day, or if I’m feeling discouraged about something. It really helps to put me back into the correct mindset and get back on track.
